Minutes of the regular meeting of the Electoral Areas Services Committee held on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at the Strathcona Regional District office located at 990 Cedar Street, Campbell River, B.C.

A quorum having been confirmed, the Vice Chair called the meeting to order at 9:31 a.m. with the following directors physically in attendance or participating electronically:

THAT the Committee recommend that the Board approve grants in aid to be paid from the Electoral Area B grant in aid budget as follows:

i) $2,628 to the Cortes Community Health Association to assist with costs associated with the Family Support program; [Item]
   
 
ii) $5,282 to the Campbell River and North Island Transition Society to assist with operating expenses at the Cortes Island Women’s Resource Centre; [Item]
 
iii) $1,155 to the Cortes Island Seafood Association to assist with costs associated with 2021 Seafest equipment; [Item]
 
iv) $910 to the Cortes Island Museum and Archives Society to assist with costs associated with the Wild Cortes program; [Item]
 
v) $2,915 to the Cortes Island School to assist with costs associated with the Cortes Literacy’s Neighbour Micro-Grants program; [Item]
 
vi) $4,720 to the Linnaea Farm Society to assist with costs associated with the Community Food Hub and the Seed Sanctuary; [Item]
 
vii) $4,045 to the Cortes Community Economic Development Association to assist with costs associated with the Community Investment Co-op Development, the Food Security Coordinator, the Grant Writer, the Online Needs/Offers & Job Platform, the Resilient Enterprise Training Series and the Sutil Pt. Road Land Rehabilitation; and [Item]
 
viii) $3,345 to the Friends of Cortes Island to assist with operating costs and costs associated with the Connecting to Resilience Program. [Item]

THAT the Committee recommend that the Board approve grants in aid to be paid from the Electoral Area D grant in aid budget as follows:

i) $10,500 to the Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society to assist with animal food, shelter and care; [Item]
   
 
ii) $2,500 to the Museum at Campbell River to assist with program costs; [Item]
 
iii) $4,000 to the Oyster River Volunteer Fire Rescue Society to assist with stress management training; and [Item]
 
iv) $10,000 to the Oyster River Enhancement Society to assist with construction and operations. [Item]

Sayward Valley Recreation and Community Use Local Service

THAT a report be prepared to outline the process for changing the name of the Sayward Valley Recreation and Community Use Local Service which is used to provide annual funding for the Sayward Heritage Hall.
