Strathcona Regional District office located at 990 Cedar Street, Campbell River, BC commencing at 12:00 noon.

The purpose of the meeting is to permit consideration of matters listed on the agenda below and, where appropriate, to provide recommendations to the Regional Board. Unless otherwise noted, all resolutions will be decided pursuant to section 208(1) of the Local Government Act, which requires that all Committee members in attendance vote and each member receives one vote.

 Strathcona Housing Alliance
 
 The Chair welcomed Stefanie Hendrickson from the Strathcona Housing Alliance who provided an overview of the organization’s purpose, a data presentation on the recently released Point in Time Count, and an introduction to the planned Housing Symposium to be held in early 2026. [Item]

 Just Like Home Lodge
 
 The Social Planner made a presentation to update the Committee on the Just Like Home Lodge. [Item]
 
 Introduction of New Committee Member
 
 The Chair welcomed Angela Lane, new committee member representing the Immigrant Welcome Centre. Ms. Lane gave a brief presentation detailing the services offered by her organization. [Item]
 
1) ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION
 
 The Chair conducted a roundtable discussion on matters of interest to members of the Committee.
 
 Strathcona Housing Alliance
 
    a) CHAWC 44/25

THAT the Community Health and Wellness Committee send a letter to MLA Kindy concerning the challenges in non-market and supportive housing.
 
 Welcome to New Member
 
 K. Dahl welcomed A. Lane to the committee.
 
 Just Like Home Project
 
 D. Hamilton commended the Just Like Home project as a critical initiative and noted that provision of housing for locums and new practitioners will be of significant mutual benefit to these professionals and to the community.
 
 Housing Symposium Funding Request
 
    b) CHAWC 45/25

THAT a motion to approve funding $5000 to support Housing Symposium be endorsed at the Committee and referred to the Regional Board. Funding to come from the Island Health Community Wellness Grant which was received in 2017 and aims to support initiatives focused on the Social Determinants of Health.
 
 Recovery Support Services on the North Island
 
 Chair Rice noted that the presentation regarding recovery support services on the North Island mentioned service gaps and requested clarity around what the gaps are.
