STRATHCONA ACCESSIBILITY AND INCLUSION ADVISORY COMMITTEE - NOTICE OF MEETING


Thursday, April 4, 2024
Strathcona Regional District offices located at 990 Cedar Street, Campbell River, BC commencing at 10:30 a.m.

The purpose of this meeting is to permit consideration of matters listed on the agenda below and, where appropriate, to provide recommendations to the participating organizations. Unless otherwise noted, all resolutions will be decided pursuant to section 208(1) of the Local Government Act, which requires that all Committee members in attendance vote and each member receives one vote.

THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Strathcona Accessibility and Inclusion Advisory Committee held on January 25, 2024 be adopted as presented.

 Revised Strathcona Accessibility Plan
 
    a) SAIAC 11/24

THAT the report from the Chief Administrative Officer be received.
 
    b) SAIAC 12/24

THAT the SAIAC endorse the March 2024 version of the Strathcona Accessibility Plan.
 
    c) SAIAC 13/24

THAT the SAIAC endorse the March 2024 version of the Strathcona Accessiblity Plan with the following changes:

- amend the first sentence on page 22 to be written as: "Vancouver Island West School District 84 is developing an accessible playground at Captain Meares Elementary Secondary School (Tahsis)."
 
    d) SAIAC 14/24

THAT the motion be amended to include the following:

- Page 14 Barrier Identification Exercise include the following disclaimer: "This is not a comprehensive list."

- Page 17 add the following after the Title: (The Committee has not fact checked or endorsed the community partner submissions)".

- Page 24 add bullet #8 as follows: Expand our framework to go beyond the categories that the BC Government has identified for future standards development.
